Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information BDE (Bookmark Desktop Extension) handles, where it goes, and the choices you have. BDE is provided by Srikanth Ambidi ("we", "us").

What stays on your computer

BDE stores everything it saves on your own laptop, in a local database in your Windows user folder. This includes:

• the titles and web addresses of tabs you save, pin, queue, note or leave unread;
• a short text excerpt from each saved page, read by the browser extension and kept only on your computer;
• the projects and summaries BDE creates;
• BDE's settings and a log file used for troubleshooting.

The BDE browser extension sends this information only to the BDE desktop app on the same computer; it does not contact any other server. We do not have access to this information. Incognito tabs are never saved.

What is sent off your computer

For project grouping. To group your tabs into projects and write a short summary, BDE sends the titles and web addresses of saved tabs, over an encrypted connection, to our server. The server passes them to Google's Gemini AI service and returns the result to your laptop. Our server does not store or log these titles and addresses.

For your license. BDE sends your license key and an identifier for your laptop's activation, so the license can be checked. We keep a daily count of requests per activation to apply the fair-use allowance; this count holds no browsing information and expires the next day.

BDE never sends page text or other page content, your full browsing history, or anything from incognito tabs off your computer.

Payments

Purchases are handled by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record. Dodo Payments collects your name, email address and payment details to process your subscription, under its own privacy policy. We receive your email address and order details, but never your card details.

Service providers

• Cloudflare, which hosts our server;
• Google (Gemini API), which groups tab titles and addresses into projects;
• Dodo Payments, which processes payments and license keys.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Keeping and deleting your information

• Saved items on your computer are archived after the period you choose in Settings, and you can delete them at any time.
• Uninstalling BDE removes the app. You can delete the saved data by removing BDE's folder from your Windows user folder.
• Purchase records are kept by Dodo Payments as required for tax and accounting.

Your rights

You can ask us what information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by writing to ambidisrikanth@gmail.com. Most of your BDE information is on your own computer, under your control.

Children

BDE is not intended for children under 18.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
